Kananook Creek – August 2017

There were 6 club members who met behind the Riviera hotel this morning in cool, overcast conditions.Brian & Martin had their own craft while club kayaks were used by Penny, Lyn, Bob & Dennis. This was Bob’s first experience of our wonderful creek. We traversed the narrow sluice gate & railway tunnel pipes successfully. After reaching Eel race Road we turned & Bob took some photos. Our club have decided to plan a short course as well as a longer paddle to suit all comers. Martin said how he is happy to join a club where people have the same colour hair that he does. We continued downstream to Armstrongs Road & discussed possible future trips. There was plenty of co-operation as we climbed out of our kayaks at trip end. A very successful morning. We covered about 3 kms in about an hour.          Thanks Dennis
